You're right, Scott -- that option seems to be gone. Now the only way you can modify the text is if you actually search for someone already on LinkedIn. Then when you get the link to Add the person to your network, it includes a text box where you can edit the text.

Thanks for pointing that out!

You describe the steps to be able to edit the text of an invitation that you want to send. I think I used to be able to do this action, however, currently, I can't seem to find the "edit" button you refer to. Can you confirm the current functionality for modifying the invitation text. Much appreciated.

Thanks for your question, Kit. You can choose to not accept InMails by going to Account & Settings > Contact Settings. It looks like you can't refuse to accept Introductions anymore. Not sure when that changed.

Great info, but I still have a question when you have a moment: How can the message "not currently open to receiving Introductions or InMail™" be set? Is this what appears when a member is only accepting invitations from his or her imported contact list? Thanks

Never were truer words said / typed. LinkedIn has become more user-friendly, but it still can get confusing. Thanks for posting this detailed explanation. It's much better than the help provided by LinkedIn itself. Hmmmm. Maybe you should offer them your services -- for a fee, of course.
