I just recently heard about this site and think it's a really cool idea:

Found Cameras and Orphan Pictures

The way it works is, when someone finds a camera or a memory card, he can e-mail some pics from it, as well as details about where it was found, to the site's owner, who will then post them online. If someone visiting the site recognizes someone in the pictures, she can contact the site so the camera and owner can finally be reunited. No money is involved—it's just people helping people.
