In yesterday's post, Read, Send, and Share Tweets on Facebook, I explained how to add the Twitter application to your FB profile. One of the steps referred to going to the Boxes tab on your Profile page.

A colleague who was following the instructions told me she didn't have a Boxes tab—just Wall, Info, and Photos. This is a bug. Everyone should have this tab on their profile page, because it's the default location for many of the Facebook applications we use.

I did some hunting around and found this entry on the FB Help Center, where a user posted a fix for this problem. My friend tried it and it worked for her, so I'm going to repeat the steps here in case anyone else is having the same problem. (I can't try it myself, because I don't have the bug to begin with...)

• Open the Applications menu (bottom left of the window) and click the Edit link at the top.
• Scroll down to one of the applications that would normally appear on the Boxes tab. I'm using Photos, because most people should have that.
• Click Edit Settings, then click the Profile tab in the pop-up window.
  
• Click whatever option is provided beside Box. For instance, if it says Added, click Remove. If it says Available, click Add. (You can change it back afterwards.)
• Click Okay.

Now go back to your Profile page and see if the Boxes tab has reappeared. The theory here is that any change made to a setting for that tab will bring the tab back. If this didn't work for you, please let me know and I'll see if I can find another solution.

The instructions above have worked for several people, but apparently not for everyone. If you fall in the latter camp, I've posted an update that provides additional steps to try.
