Send Tweets to Facebook Using TweetDeck

In my earlier post, Read, Send, and Share Tweets on Facebook, I explained how you can import your Twitter timeline to Facebook as well as send tweets from there by installing the Twitter application. When you do that, you also have the option of having your own tweets appear as a Facebook status update.

If you're only interested in the latter feature, you can use the TweetDeck client to send tweets to both Twitter and Facebook at the same time. (If you want more information about how to install and use TweetDeck, read my post, Manage Your Tweets with TweetDeck.)

Even if you are using the Twitter app to import your full stream, you may still want to use TweetDeck for updating your Facebook status because, as you can see, it actually allows you to check/uncheck that option each time. When you select this feature in the FB Twitter application, every single tweet you post will end up as your Facebook status line. With TweetDeck you can also choose to send the post to Facebook only.

The first time you do this, you'll be prompted to log in to Facebook, which also gives TweetDeck access to your FB info, just like other applications you install. If you check the box that says "Keep me logged in to TweetDeck", you won't be prompted again. You'll then get a second prompt to confirm your request.

There. Now you can use TweetDeck to send tweets/status updates to either Twitter or Facebook, or to both simultaneously.

If you change your mind later about wanting TweetDeck to have access to your FB account, you can remove the permission in Facebook by going to Settings > Application Settings, and selecting Edit Settings beside TweetDeck. Then uncheck the options on the Additional Permissions tab.
