Teachable Moment: Stop Playing with Your BlackBerry When…

... there's a billionaire in the room.

I'm starting a new category called Teachable Moments, where I'll be linking to stories that illustrate much better than I ever could what NOT to do with technology.

In this particular case, it seems like a BlackBerry obsession played a part in yesterday's coup in the New York State Senate.

When I travel 250 miles to make the case on how to save the state a lot of money and increase the quality of life for residents with developmental disabilities and a guy comes into his office and starts playing with his BlackBerry, I was miffed.

And who wouldn't be? Elections have consequences. So does bad behaviour.

Great idea–I am guilty of this sometimes too. These things are such addictions!

I’m a crackberry addict, its got so bad I didn’t even notice I was being rude. All good points though, will try harder.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. :)
This is definitely not one of my vices. I don’t have a BlackBerry and I can barely remember to keep my cellphone charged.
