In previous posts, I wrote about how you could have Twitter automatically update your Facebook status line directly from Twitter or with TweetDeck. Now you can also connect your Twitter and LinkedIn accounts so your tweets update your LinkedIn status line. And, unlike with Facebook, it works in the other direction as well—you can post an update on LinkedIn and tweet it at the same time.
Here's how.
- Go to your LinkedIn home page and click the Account & Settings link at the top of the page.
Under Profile Settings, click Twitter Settings.- On the next screen, click Add Your Twitter Account. You'll be prompted for your username and password and to grant LinkedIn access to your Twitter information. Note that if you're already signed in to Twitter, it will assume that's the account you want to add so you won't have to enter your credentials again.

- Click Allow. You'll be taken to a Settings page that lists your Twitter account name.

- Choose whether you want your Twitter account to appear on your LinkedIn Profile page and whether you want all tweets to appear in your LinkedIn status line or only those that have the #in hash tag in them.
- Click Save and go back to your home page. You can now see a Twitter checkbox under the text box where you enter your status line.

Now when you update your status, simply check the box if you want to send it out on Twitter as well.
In the other direction, your tweets will automatically update your status line on LinkedIn. If you chose the option to use the #in hash tag, you must enter that in your tweet to have it work. (Apparently #li also works.)

Note: I received a note from a reader who said his tweets weren't showing up on LinkedIn. I thought the problem might be related to hash tags not showing up in searches in general, so suggested he read this post to try the solution posted there. I never heard back from him, so I don't know if it worked or not.
If you have any problems getting the Twitter/LinkedIn connection to work properly, please let me know and I'll see if I can find an answer to the problem.

Is this a global change? Or do I need to add pages on all my machines with tweetedeck?
